CANFIELD - William A. Anderson, 77, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the Windsor House at Canfield.
He was born on May 2, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Leroy Anderson and the former Twila Johnson.
Bill began his career at General Motors in 1970, where he devoted 37 years.
Bill graduated from South High School and furthered his education at Youngstown State University, where he studied music.
Bill owned and instructed scuba diving for his company, North Coast Divers and other establishments such as Treasure Cove, the Jewish Community Center, and the Salem Community Center from 1982 to 2019. He was a lifeguard at the Salem Community Center where he also taught swimming to many. In addition to his love for the water Bill had a passion for biking and traveling.
His many chili recipes were well-known among family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Valentino, whom he married on May 22, 1971; his daughter, Meagan (Joseph) Leonard, of Columbus, OH; his brother, Robert (Deborah) Anderson, of Berlin Center, OH; and his grandson, Gavin Leonard.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to noon, followed by a funeral service at noon at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr’s Centre Drive, Canfield, OH 44406. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Salem Community Center (kids swim classes) 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem, OH 44460 or to Canfield Ohio Living Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Rd., Building E., Suite 201., Canfield, OH 44406.
