William Thomas Ashton

William Thomas Ashton, surrounded by the love of his family, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and cherished memories. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, William's life was marked by his light-hearted humor, curiosity, and his endless love for his family.

William earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a career path that brought him great joy and fulfillment. He was known for his skill, precision, and deep passion for his work, and approached every project with dedication and care.

On January 21, 1984, William married the love of his life, Helga Le Roux, in Evander, South Africa. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, unconditional love, and an endless supply of dad jokes.

William's happiest moments were spent with his family. He especially treasured "Fun Fridays" with his grandchildren. These joyful afternoons were filled with cannonballs into the pool, shared laughter, and endless love. He was an amazing father and grandfather, and his family always felt loved, safe, and supported. He enjoyed building wooden puzzles, robotic kits, and creating fun, yet functional spreadsheets. He also loved going on cruises and exploring new places, finding joy in the adventure and the memories made along the way. Dining at favorite restaurants and enjoying movies at the theatre brought him equal delight.

Known for his empathy, compassion, and kindness, William touched the lives of everyone he met. He was an engineer not only by profession but also in spirit; he was dedicated, thoughtful, and resourceful. His humor and warm presence will be deeply missed.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Helga Ashton; children, Toni-Anne Lobin and Stephanie Phillips; grandchildren, Mark Lobin, Laylah Phillips, Trevor Phillips, and Taylor Lobin; and siblings, Sue Kerver, Betty Cotner, and Bob Ashton. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ashton and Frances Ashton.

William's life was a testament to love, family, and the joy of simple pleasures. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
