William Banaszynski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Jan. 3, 2026.
As known by most people as just "BANA", his life spanned seventy-two years.

From his life as a young teenager, moving from the beaches of sunny Southern California to the red rocks and snowcapped peaks of Southern Utah; to his life on the road that took place throughout the wild west. Bill, compared to the rest of us, lead one hell of a full and eventful life.

Bill graduated from Cedar City High School in 1971. He was an outstanding student athlete, lettering in both varsity Basketball and Football! If it had a ball, stick, club or line with a hook involved with it, Bill was all in.

In Bill's early life he fell in love and married. He fathered twins. A beautiful little blond girl (Andera) that took after her mother and a handsome little blond boy (Andrew) that took after his father. Bill loved his children!

During this time in Bill's life, he tried many different ways to make a living. He poured concrete, built stick, stone and steel buildings and became a traveling heavy construction tradesman. Through traveling most of the western United States his body and age began to affect his abilities. At middle age, in an attempt to slow down, Bill became a bar owner in his hometown. With Bill's innate outgoing personality and numerous friends and

acquaintances (too numerous to mention), bar ownership and working the bar's cliental came naturally. He was successful to the point he found himself no longer able to separate his bar life from his real life. So again, it was time to move on to a more healthy, laidback lifestyle called "partial retirement".

As Bill's story winds down, as much as he tried to live with his numerous ailments, Bill found lasting peace as he passed in his sleep on December 22, 2025. Bill was a fun-loving outdoorsman who felt most at home in nature. He had a deep love for fishing and hunting and enjoyed the peace and freedom the outdoors brought him. Known for his easygoing personality and sense of humor, Bill built and maintained a large circle of friends who valued his loyalty, kindness, and companionship.

Above all else, Bill loved his children. He was proud of them and showed his love in steady, meaningful ways. His presence, stories, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Final arrangements are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences may be shared at www.mortuary.org.
