Stacey Middleton, 62, passed away on May 3, 2025, in Washington, UT, where she proudly made her home in her later years. She was born on March 29, 1963, in Cedar City, Utah, to Gary and Marva Middleton. Though her early years took her through a handful of cities-Las Vegas, Lander, Battle Mountain, and Houston-Stacey returned to Cedar City while still a young girl. It was there she settled into the rhythms of childhood, attending elementary and continuing through high school, growing up surrounded by the red hills and close-knit spirit of her hometown.
Stacey's professional life reflected her deep care for others. She started at Cedar Pack, held various service roles including as a waitress, and later contributed to the Paiute tribe in financial and administrative work. Her most significant career chapter was with the Social Security Administration, where she dedicated many years to helping people navigate important life needs. Outside of her professional life, Stacey was passionate about writing, using her beautiful penmanship to craft stories and poetry. She was also skilled in crocheting and enjoyed tackling DIY projects around the house. Stacey loved the outdoors and cherished visits to the family cabin. A true Rock Hound, she had a special fondness for rock and arrowhead hunting and could often be found exploring the natural world. Stacey will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and witty sense of humor. She also had a love for Diet Coke and Granny B's pink cookies, both of which brought her joy.
She is survived by her mother, Marva Carter Middleton; her brother, Jeff Middleton; her daughters, Amber Ashdown, Whitney Ashdown, Samantha Nay, and Savannah Byars; three nieces; fourteen grandchildren-Brielle, Jaycee, Kyson, Elijah, Melea, Nation, Gabe, Grae, Brennen, Lennox, Emerson, Haven, Graci, and Brayden; two great-grandchildren; and many cherished friends who were family in all but name. She was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, especially those she helped raise and support closely. Stacey was preceded in death by her father, Gary Middleton; her brother, Michael John Middleton; her son, Brennen Ashdown; her daughter, Chyanne O'Connor; her grandson, Journey Ashdown; and her paternal grandparents, John and Afton Middleton, and Ward and ReVou Carter.
