Born on May 28, 1932, in Elkmont, Alabama, Sarah was the daughter of Grady and Lillie (Pinkleton) Johns. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a beautician in the healthcare industry. Her warmth and generosity extended beyond her profession into every aspect of her life.
Sarah was a devoted member of Jalapa Road Freewill Baptist Church and an active participant in the Red Hat Society. She found joy in crocheting and cherished her time at church, where she lovingly served in the kitchen and contributed to community yard sales.
She is survived by her daughters: Peggy Sue (Danny) Shepherd of Hammond, Pamela (Art) Ullom of Fort Wayne, Cynthia (Bill) Hexamer of Fort Wayne, and Melissa (Dan) Morigi of Merrillville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry W. Johnson; her brother, Gilbert Johns; and three grandsons, Tony Johnson, Jon Michael Johnson, and Scott Collins.
Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
