William Robert Bassell

William Robert Bassell, 76, of Wethersfield, CT and Hutchinson Island, FL, beloved husband to Jaqueline Thompson Bassell for 54 years, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital Monday August 5, 2024.
Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Robert and Toini Harju Bassell.
William graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1966 and received a Bachelor of Science from Central CT State University. He worked for numerous mechanical contractors as an estimator and project manager.
He loved his family and two cats. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a kind, sensitive man ready to help anyone. He never complained and always looked for the best in others.
He played lead guitar in rock and roll bands for 20 years, traveling to various venues throughout the northeast. He was an avid golfer, playing for 30 years in the AEC League. He loved nature, planting fruit trees, flowers and shrubs to attract wildlife. In his retirement, he enjoyed winters on Hutchinson Island in Florida.
He survived by a son, Cristian Bassell, a daughter, Tiffany Heath, and two very loved cats, Shelby and Lacey, also a sister, Kathleen and Richard Karwic, a brother, Tom Bassell, a sister Barbara and Harry Gough. Nieces and nephews Robert Karwic and partner Tim Swoape, Michael and Amanda Karwic, Glenn and Beth Karwic, Jeffery and Alicia Karwic, Ian and Elizabeth Boccaccio, Cara and Joe Almon and Kalyn and Michael Carmody.
The Bassell family will receive relatives and friends at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT 06067 on Friday August 9, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a service and burial to follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Bel Air Mannor in Newington, CT; the staff at Hartford Hospital, Conkling building, 3rd floor and the wonderful people at Hospice, especially Kristen.
