William Beitel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perinchief Chapels - Mount Holly on May 2, 2025.
William J.J. Beitel (1931-2025) passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, surrounded by his family in Mt. Holly, New Jersey.
Born in Trenton, NJ to the late Mary and William Beitel, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maryann (nee Wessel); his five (5) children and their spouses: Elizabeth "Beth" (Bill) of New Hope, PA, Susan (David) of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Kathleen (Paul) of Newtown, PA, William "Bill" (Donna) of Chester Springs, PA and Edward (Kristina) of Robbinsville, NJ; and his thirteen (13) grandchildren whom he adored: Steve, Jon, Michael, Sean, Charlie, Julia, Alex, Liam, Shane, Ashley, Thomas, Brian and Sarah. He is survived by his sister Betsy Damutz of Yardley, PA and is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Dr. Edward Wessel and Father John Wessel.
Bill graduated from Trenton Catholic Boys High School in 1949. He was known for his kindness, compassion, creative vision, innovative ideas, determination and strong work ethic. Bill was devoted to helping others succeed. He taught his 5 children and 13 grandchildren to honor their potential, open their hearts, and stay curious about the world around us.
As a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force, Bill was proud member of this small naval community with its home port in Pearl Harbor. He served on the USS Gudgeon (SS567) and was discharged in 1956. Bill joined his father in the display & sign business, Beitel Displays. He grew this into Beitel Displays and Exhibits Inc., a diverse international company that designed & produced large scale museum and tradeshow exhibits. In 1978, Beitel Lottery Products was formed. This division designed and manufactured mixing ball lottery machines for the world.
Bill retired in 1996 and loved to travel the world with Maryann. They visited many countries focusing on the beauty, the culture, the landscapes, and the wonderful people. He was not just a spectator, but always a student wanting to learn something new each day. Bill thoroughly enjoyed spending time and creating everlasting memories with his family and friends at their bayfront home in High Bar Harbor, NJ.
An avid fisherman, Bill always enjoyed new adventures like salmon fishing in Alaska and Walleye fishing in Ontario, Canada. He would not think twice about taking a Sea Plane to get to the fishing spot even at 92.
Bill's vibrant personality, kindness, gentle spirit, love for family and steady presence will be deeply missed. His constant optimism and belief in the human spirit will live on in the lives of his 5 children, 13 grandchildren and everyone who knew him. At the age of 93, it was a life well-lived!
Friends and relatives are invited to attend William's viewing on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 6:30pm-8pm at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060 and on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 9:30am to 10:45am at Sacred Heart Church, 260 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060. Bill Beitel was my lifetime hero. I first met him as a fellow Trenton Rotatian in 1973. He is the epitome of integrity and devotion to his spouse, children, friends, vendors and community. The world lost a a true treasure.

Waiting on the water for a bite, sometimes for hours, is an opportunity for kids to learn that being patient and not quitting is the key to success. It may take some time, or a couple of trips out, but eventually their patience and perseverance will be rewarded, just as in life.
Bill pictured with the biggest fish, just as in life! We will miss him.

Bill Beitel was probably the nicest man we have ever known! We never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. He was curious about everything and loved learning new things. We were lucky enough to travel with Bill and Maryann on several occasions and he was interested in the people so much more than the scenery....he genuinely cared about them and their lives.
The world has lost and Prince among men and he will be so greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by us.
