William Perry Best passed away on May 30, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas, at the age of 85. Born on December 11, 1939, in Daisetta, Texas, Perry lived a life characterized by dedication, family love, and a passion for both his career and his interests.
Perry enjoyed a successful career in oilfield sales while also engaging in farming, specifically focusing on soybeans and rice. His professional endeavors were complemented by his personal passions, which included avid gardening and taking great care of his yard. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Texas A&M, often found watching football games with friends and family, proudly embracing his identity as a lifelong Aggie fan.
A proud veteran, Perry served in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Quartermaster 3rd Class. His military service exhibited his commitment to duty and his country; values he would carry throughout his life.
Family was at the forefront of Perry’s heart. He is survived by his loving wife of over 35 years, Maureen Best, and their daughters: Deborah Hajovsky of San Angelo, Texas; Denise May Pratt of Lumberton, Texas; Donna Phillips and her husband, Richard, of Lewisville, Texas; and Deidra Stephens of Smithville, Texas. His legacy continues with his grandchildren, James May, Aaron Hajovsky, Emily Fagerstrom, Brendan Phillips, Andrew Stephens, Marcus May, Val Hajovsky, Shane Phillips, and Garrett Stephens, as well as his great-grandchildren, Kaden Hajovsky, Henry Hajovsky, Charlie Hajovsky, Ella Stephens, Perry Fagerstrom, and Josephine Hajovsky.
Perry was preceded in death by his father, James B. Best, his mother, Mattie L. Richardson Best, and his brother, Jimmie Best. He is remembered as a fantastic man who loved his family deeply, often embodying the spirit of a big kid at heart. His warmth and kindness will be greatly missed by his numerous friends and family who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on June 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Faith & Family Funeral Services, located at 40847 Texas 105, Batson, Texas. The funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM officiated by Pastor Rusty Bullerman at Faith and Family Funeral Services. William will be laid to rest at Guedry Cemetery, located at 11713 Batson Prairie Road, Batson, Texas, with the burial scheduled for 1:00 PM.
Honoring Perry as pallbearers are James May, Aaron Hajovsky, Brendan Phillips, Andrew Stephens, Marcus May, Val Hajovsky, Shane Phillips and Garrett Stephens. Honorary pallbearers are Max Hill, Buddy Thompson and Robert Wayne Parker.
William Perry Best leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and the unwavering bonds of family that will continue to thrive for generations to come.
