William (Bill) L. Flanick

William (Bill) L. Flanick passed away on September 26, 2023. Bill was born on April 15, 1955, the only child to William F. and Lola M. Flanick. Bill attended Sacred Heart and St. Ann's Elementary School, East Junior High and graduated from Butte High School in 1973. He worked for the Anaconda Mining Co. from 1973 to 1976. He then attended Montana State University-Northern, graduating in 1978 with an Associate Degree in Diesel Technology. From there he went to work at Holeman Diesel in Billings, MT from 1978 to 1988 and then worked for Ryder Truck Rental, holding numerous management positions for 30 years before retiring. It was at Holeman Diesel where he met Sherry Asay, his best friend and soul mate. They were married on September 1, 1979. They had three sons: Michael, Christopher, and Scott.
Bill enjoyed camping, skiing, and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school programs and sporting events.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; father-in-law, Darrell Asay and sister-in-law, Tammy Stiles.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sherry; his children: Mike (Hillary Hansen), Chris (Jamie) and Scott (Kristine) and grandchildren: Lily, Lexi, Bryleigh, Kamberlyn, Taycen, and Bridger; mother-in-law, Char Asay; sisters-in-law: Cyndi and Lisa (Bob); brother-in-law, Duane (Judy) and Paul Stiles (Laurel), along with numerous cousins.
We would like to thank Dr. Carl Gray, Kylie Money, Lynn Larson and the entire staff at Ogden Clinic Oncology for their compassionate care during this hard time. We would also like to give our sincere thanks to Dr. Jordan and the wonderful nurses and staff that helped him with his recovery at Ogden Regional Medical Center. Also, thanks to Acute Rehabilitation Hospital for their help in getting Bill home. We thank Wound Care Clinic and staff for their encouragement while Bill was healing and Aspen Ridge Home Health for their love and compassion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We were pretty good friends during our high school years. Loved riding with him in his 1970 dark green Charger on the "drag" in Butte! RIP Bill!
