William "Bill" Guyle Freeman, 71, joined his loved ones in heaven on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He is survived by his children; son, Matthew Henry Freeman, his daughter, Molly Melinda (Ryan) Gonzales and his grandsons, Braxton Keith and Avery Ryan; his sisters, Linda (James) Selden-Paduano, Kim (Tom) Theilmann and Beth (Billy) Roland. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Valerie (Guyle) Freeman, his wife, Marlene Melinda Freeman and his in-laws, Henry and Millie Ruter.
He loved his family very much.
William was born February 25, 1953, in Trenton, NJ, the oldest and only son of George N. and Valerie T. Freeman. He graduated from Niskayuna High School in 1970, Bucknell University in 1974 with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Union College in 1980 with his Master's Degree in Computer Science (where he graduated 1st in his class).
On June 20, 1981, he was united in marriage to Marlene Melinda Ruter. To this union, two children were born, Matthew and Molly. He loved watching his children play sports, he was their coach and their biggest fan.
Bill was the President and Sole Proprietor at WGFreeman Consulting Inc. for over 30 years. He worked for the State Bank of Albany, NY, Sperry Univac/UNISYS and Arthur Young/Ernst & Young in Minneapolis, MN.
He loved curling, golf and singing.
He was a curler for over 50 years, being a member of the Schenectady, Union College and St. Paul Curling Clubs. He competed in the USCA Mixed Curling Nationals. Also, he was a trainer and a referee. Bill was on the Niskayuna High School Golf Team and Varsity Golf Team at Bucknell University. He loved to karaoke and was a Tenor and Baritone Soloist in his choir from Middle School through College.
Bill fought a long hard battle with mental illness and ultimately ended up with Parkinson's Disease. Per his wishes, his body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program for medical education.
His family will have a private memorial at a later date.
