He was an Eagle Scout and involved in both the Boy and Girl Scouts. He was also in charge of the North Shore Lake Assoc. for Paddock Lake. He collected trains, coins, and stamps and loved to tinker in his workshop.

Bill is survived by his children, Lorretta (Larry) Clark of Florida, Lynell Rose of Kentucky and Louise (Danny) Heeg of New Munster; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Zack, Sarah, Ayla, Tabby, Trey, Tatiana, Allison, Breanna, Amber and Michael; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce (Jim) Hayes. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and grandsons, Justin and William.

The family would like to thank the Aurora Visiting Nurses and Aurora Pallative Care for their care during this time.
