William Allen “Bill” Ketchie, 80, of Statesville, died Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home.

He was born in Iredell County on March 5, 1944, to the late Hubert Lee Ketchie and Beulah Griffith Ketchie. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Beck Ketchie, two brothers, Herman Ketchie, Edd Ray Ketchie, and a sister, Pat Dowell. Bill was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and was a diesel mechanic most of his life. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Hobbies include fishing and hunting, especially rabbit hunting in his earlier years.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Randell Ketchie (Lori), Dennis Ketchie, five grandchildren, Jessica McCoy (Logan), Keri Ketchie, Meghan Ketchie, Hunter Ketchie, Yasmine Ketchie, two great-grandchildren, Lily McCoy and Kara McCoy, and a sister, Martha Lambert.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Gwaltney officiating. Bill will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The family will visit with friends Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to The American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Ste. 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
