William "Bill" Mullins, unexpectedly passed away on January 15, 2024, leaving behind a hole in the family and communities hearts. Bill was born February 11, 1956, in Clintwood, VA to the late Cleta Inete Gilmore, and was raised alongside many aunts and uncles. Bill loved nothing more than to tell anyone about how he was raised and stories of his amazing life.
Bill dedicated over 35 years of his life working for the State of Virginia. For may years he was everyone's favorite smiling face at the DMV in Abingdon. He had a heart for serving people and it was made evident everyday. Additionally, he served as "Mr. Bill" bus #82 at Greendale Elementary School. He was dedicated to all of the children at Greendale, even the one's who didn't ride his bus, and his loss will be felt by many.
Beyond his professional life, Bill lived everyday for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone in need. His favorite passions were family, friends, and of course being a huge University of Tennessee fan. His heart and spirit will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and two sisters Donna Sproles and Tammy Mullins.
Bill's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He is survived by his wife, Trish Johnston, his son Eric Mullins and daughter-in-law Danielle, his sons Cody and Austin Powers, his daughter Kima McCall and son-in-law Wes, his granddaughters Macie and Waverly Mullins, grandson Ian McCall, his brother Bobby Gilmore, his sister Cheryl Davenport, . Additionally, he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry on his legacy of love and kindness.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 5 pm until 7 pm at Farris Funeral Service -Main Street location. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Craig Barber officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In celebration of Bill's life, let us remember him as a beacon of light whose warm smile could brighten the darkest room. His spirit of generosity and genuine care will continue to inspire us all. May his gentle soul find eternal peace.
