William "Bill" H. Zimmerman, 79, of Schofield, passed away on October 30, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 19, 1946, in Wausau, he was the son of the late Herbert and Ona (Crum) Zimmerman. On July 24, 2007, he married Patty (Rick) Kunze in Wausau.
Bill dedicated an impressive 47 years to his career as an electrician at Graphics Packaging International in Wausau. He was a respected member of the Local Union 224, where he previously served as the vice president.
Bill carried with him a great sense of humor, always ready with a funny remark that made him memorable to all who knew him. His witty personality drew people in, making him a beloved figure among friends and family alike.
Bill greatly enjoyed watching the Packers, Bucks, Brewers and NASCAR. He enjoyed motorcycling, owning several Harley Davidsons throughout his life. Bill cherished moments spent camping up north and traveling with his wife, Patty, creating countless memories together. In his youth, he enjoyed deer hunting with his father.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Patty Zimmerman of Schofield; three children, Beth (Keven) Tornow of Wausau, Jamie (John) Babcock of Minocqua, and Branden (Barb) Zimmerman of Kansas; two step-children, Chad (Tammy) Kunze of Aniwa and Casi (Josh) Teske of Wausau; and his one grandson, Cody (Bailey) Zimmerman. He is also survived by his siblings, Bob (Sharon) Zimmerman of Wausau and Beverly (Mike) Janisch of Merrill, along with brother-in-law Kevin Rick, sisters-in-law Glenda Schilling, Sharon (Leon) Pittsley, and Dawn (Tim) Hahn, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth Ann Huland.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, November 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care located at 2809 Jelinek Avenue, Weston, WI. At 7:00 P.M. there will be a time to share favorite memories of Bill.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care unit of Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the care offered to Bill during his time there.
