Billy was a native of Halifax County and was the son of the late Russell Charlie Birdsong, Sr. and Alice Liles Birdsong. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Wilkerson Birdsong.
He loved playing pool, baseball, softball, and fishing. Billy was always happy.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristen Birdsong Strickland and her husband, Troy Lee Strickland, III of Roanoke Rapids and Tammy Birdsong Harvey and her husband, Greg of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his grandchildren, William Landen Birdsong,
Tylen Lee Strickland, Langstone Harvey and Calder Harvey; his brother, Russell Charlie Birdsong and his wife, Judy; his sisters, Jean Birdsong Thompson and Beverly Birdsong Turner and her husband, Robert all of Roanoke Rapids; his sisters-in-law, Raye Wilkerson Bailey and her husband, Jerry and Brenda Wilkerson Jenkins and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.
Friends may go by Kristen's Home.
