William Bondick

William James Bondick, 74, a lifelong resident of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, surrounded by his family at home. Born on June 20, 1950, to Julian and Antonia Bondick. William, or Bill as he was known, lived a life dedicated to his family, interests and community.

Bill spent 37 years working for the Rockford Department of Public Works, where his focus on improving the city he loved was evident in his consistent commitment to service. A proud member of the Rockford Municipal Employees Credit Union board, he took great pride in his efforts to support and serve his fellow employees. 

Outside of his professional life, Bill was actively involved in his children's activities. Contributing as a volunteer for Rockford Park District baseball, where he eventually became a site manager, helping foster a love of sports and teamwork in countless young players. He was also involved with the local Scout troop, supporting his sons and their peers in their many adventures. In retirement, Bill became an avid golfer, spending many enjoyable hours on the course while in the company of friends. 

Bill was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, proudly sporting green and gold throughout his life, regardless of the ups and downs — even during the tough years of the 70s and 80s. His loyalty to the Packers was only matched by his love and commitment to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Linda Bondick, with whom he built a life full of love and cherished memories. Bill was a proud father to his two sons, Ross Bondick and Ryan Bondick (wife Rachel Wilson). He adored his grandchildren, Eden and Rory Bondick, who brought him endless joy and pride. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Julian and Antonia Bondick, and his sister, Nancy Moyer, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
