William Bailey “Muscles” Bruce, Sr., 94, gained his wings on October 6, 2023.
Born April 5, 1929 to Walker Bruce and Lilly White Bruce on Illinois Avenue in The Nations area of West Nashville. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert, Walker, Beaver, Odd, Harry and David Bruce; and sisters Dorothy Marie Carpenter Lee, Mamie Lillian Bruce, and daughter-in-law Linda Rogers Bruce.
Survived by his sons Bill (Nancy Orren), Buster and Donald Bruce and daughters Betty Marie Mace and Nancy Hewitt, along with 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Bruce was one of the original West Nashville Master Electricians, serving the Nashville Area and surrounding counties for 70 years. He was an honorary member of Wendell Smith’s Restaurant in The Nations, and Teter’s Market on River Road. He was also a proud member of VFW Post 1970, having served in the Army during the Korean War.
He loved his live country music, cooking, gardening and enjoyed watching his deer, turkeys and squirrels. He was a joker, making people laugh and smile. In his younger years he also enjoyed dancing with friends at the VFW.
Visitation with the family will be on October 16, 2023 from 3pm to 7pm at West Harpeth Funeral Home, immediately followed by a service at 7pm. A private graveside service for the family will be held on a future date at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane.
