Tom was born to the late Euna and Robert Butler on June 11, 1941. He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Butler, and the love of his life, Sarah Kay Epton Butler. They were married on April 18, 1965, and lived in Clemmons, North Carolina, until 1980 when they moved back to Tom's hometown in Harnett County, NC.
Tom is survived by their two children; Ashley Butler Brossoie and William Thomas Butler, Jr. (Crystal), three precious granddaughters; Isabelle Brossoie and Luna and Ella Butler, his sister; Carol Butler Daskal, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Flat Branch Presbyterian Church, 130 Darroch Road, Bunnlevel, NC 28323.
There will be a visitation at Flat Branch Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service honoring Tom's life beginning at 3:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow in the Church Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake.

I interviewed Tom for an assignment for an environmental journalism class I took at UNC Chapel Hill. He was a kind and wonderful man, willingly answering all of my questions. He was courageous and truly cared about his neighbors and the environment. Sending my deepest sympathies to his family.
