William L. Campbell

1940-2025

William L. Campbell, 85, Cosby, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025.

He was born on July 26, 1940 to Carl N. and Elsie (Billingsly) Campbell in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Born in the serene town of Ketchikan, William's early love for the great outdoors was evident. This passion would shape much of his life, defining his interests and hobbies. An avid collector, hunter, and fisherman, William found great pleasure in these pursuits. His favorite moments were those spent in the quiet of the wilderness, amidst the beauty of the forests and streams that echoed the tranquility of Psalm 23, his beloved scripture.

One could often find William humming along to the tunes of Marty Robbins, his favorite artist. It is both poignant and fitting that as he spent his final moments, the comforting melodies of Robbins filled the room, providing a serene backdrop to a well-lived life.

A cherished soul known as well for his outstanding dedication and service to his country as a Navy aircraft mechanic for the Blue Angels.

William dedicated many years of his life to his role as a QA Inspector for the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Above all, William treasured his family. The joy of his life was his great-grandchildren, the apple of his eye. His interactions with them were filled with laughter, affection, and the sharing of life's simple pleasures.

William was a regular viewer of News Max, keeping himself informed and engaged with current affairs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandra Sue, son David William Campbell and his sisters Lola Marie Karichner and Grace Reynolds.

Survivors include his son Scott Campbell (Betsy) and his daughter Christine Campbell, granddaughters Hannah Catlett (Logan) and Alexa Campbell (Devin), and greatgrandchildren Sophie "Josie", Adeline and Brooklynn, and siblings Ben and Ruth Ellen Campbell.

His presence will be greatly missed, yet the memories he created will continue to inspire joy and gratitude in the hearts of those who loved him.

Natural Farewell under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gower Convalescent Center and/or the East Buchanan Future Farmers of America. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
