William Henry Cape

William Henry Cape went home to his Lord on February 27, 2026, after a long fulfilling life of 98 years. He was born in Orlando, Florida on October 4, 1927, to William John and Adele Lillian Cape. While growing up, Henry spent much of his time in Cordele, Georgia learning the value of hard work on his father's farm.

Henry was proud to serve his country in the Navy for four years during the Korean War sailing in the Atlantic Theatre. On September 15, 1952, he received the Order of the Blue Nose after crossing the Artic Circle then later crossing the equator sailing in the South Atlantic Ocean.

After serving his country, Henry returned to Florida and worked for Winn-Dixie for over forty years beginning as an Inventory Clerk, then worked his way to the position of Manager. While working at Winn-Dixie, Henry met the love of his life, Gloria June Davis, whom he married in 1954. They were married for 58 years till her passing in 2012.

Henry is survived by his son Steve (Jill) of Clermont, Florida, his son Jim (Gayle) of Sebastian, Florida, and his daughter Lillian Burchnell (Don) of Greeneville, Tennessee. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Mary Wakefield, Amanda Cape, Sarah Cape, Craig Cape, Alicia Kellerburg, Rachel Hall, and Cassie Burchnell as well as 12 greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by grandson Bradley Burchnell.
