Paula Sue Cape, 62, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, surrounded by her family.
She was born July 6, 1963, in McPherson County, KS, the daughter of Everett LeRoy and Ereline Jane (Wills) Cape. Paula graduated from Moundridge High School and earned her degree in nursing from Barton County Community College. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse.
Paula devoted her life to caring for others. She was a compassionate nurse with Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County and had previously served as an ER nurse at Rice Community Hospital in Lyons, KS. Her dedication and kindness touched countless lives throughout her career.
Paula deeply loved her family and especially cherished her nieces and nephews, whom she treated as her own. She will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering care, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
Survivors include her siblings, LeRoy Cape (Luz Mila) of McPherson, KS, Marla Jane Sanchez (Tony) of Hutchinson, KS, and Terri Moddelmog (Todd) of Galva, KS; nieces & nephews, Billy Prickett, Jr. (Maricris), Greg Wespe (Christina), Cody Cape (Madison), Cheyenne Sanchez (Austin), Trey Moddelmog (Zoe), Devin Cape (Peyton), Nick Criqui, & Tia Moddelmog; great-nieces & great-nephews, Phoenix, Josie, Calla, Rowyn, Kendra, Kayleigh, & Paige; and many extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett LeRoy Cape and Ereline Jane Cape-Hardee; grandparents, Everett T. Cape and Marjorie (Cape) Buckley; and great-nephew, Madden Cape.
A private family service will be held.
