William "Bill" M. Casey, age 74 of Downing, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.

William was born on February 18, 1951, to Albert and Flora (Confer) Casey in Menomonie and was a 1969 graduate of Menomonie High School. He farmed for a few years then moved to Iowa. He worked as a conductor for Chicago Northwestern Railroad from 1974 to 1990. Bill moved back home to Wisconsin in 1990 and settled in Downing, where he could be closer to family. He worked in maintenance for Kwik Trip for over 30 years as a facility manager. He met his soul mate Sue Petranovich in the fall of 1992 and have been together ever since.

Bill was an avid fisherman and loved being on the water. If he wasn't fishing, he would watch it on TV and next inline was old westerns. Bill was a part of the Bass Masters Club for many years. His family was very important to him and enjoyed sharing many of his hobbies with them; from watching Packer Football, to hunting, playing cards, bowling and golf. Bill was the absolute best at giving advice and firmly believed in honesty.

Bill is survived by his wife Sue and dog Minnie; children Joe Casey, Brian (Carey Jo) Casey, Sherrie Casey, Chris (Wendy) Petranovich and Kim (Jad) Mitchell; grandchildren Sydney (Anthony) Lindgren, Tyler (Shay Souza) Casey; Kamden Casey, Addison (Cierra Clay) Mertz, Kaenan Casey, Noah Casey, Elizabeth Bealer, MacKenzie Casey, Tyler (Taylor) Owen, Will (LeAnn) Owen, Ashley (Tyler) Hunter, Shawnae Larson, Tavian Mitchell and Roman Mitchell; great grandchildren Adalynn, Easton, Ella and Thomas; nephew Jeff (Amy) Wheeler; he is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Zachary, daughter-in-law Sherrie Casey, sister and brother-in-law Lucille (Jim) Wheeler and his dogs Tanor and Bitsie.

The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice along with nurses Dalva, Jennifer and Brittany for their presence and care during Bill's final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Wilson Legion (250 Main Street, Wilson, WI). Please feel free to wear camouflage or Packer apparel in honor and in memory of Bill. Burial will take place in the fall at Forest Hill Cemetery, Knapp, WI.
