William "Bill" Sargent Castellon passed away in his home in
Kittery, Maine surrounded by family following a long battle with leukemia on November 17, 2023. Bill was 70 years old and was born in
Lafayette, Louisiana on January 7th, 1953. Bill married Nancy Spillane Castellon in September of 1981 and they recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. Bill and Nancy enjoyed spending time together and would frequently go for walks on the Seacoast beaches after getting brunch at local establishments.
Bill enlisted in the United States Navy when he was 21 years old and spent 21 years in the Navy including being an ELT on the first deployment of the USS Henry M Jackson. He received his Bachelor of Science from SUNY in 1994 and a Master of Business Administration from New Hampshire College in 1998.
He traveled the globe throughout his time in the Navy but loved Southern Maine and settled in Kittery to raise his family. He has three children Michael, Rebecca and Robert and two grandchildren Madeline and Abigail and he would brag to anyone who would listen about their accomplishments.
He worked in the private sector but returned to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard retiring in October of 2021 for a total time of 38 years of government service. He loved the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard community and made more friends than could be listed.
His many pets were an important part of his life. Reilly the dog and Matthew the cat will miss sitting with him and watching sports. He was an avid Boston sports fan and the Boston Bruins and hockey was his favorite sport. He proudly spent more than ten years as the announcer for Traip Academy basketball and football games. He loved vacationing and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee with his extended family and looked forward to that week for the entire year. Some of his favorite hobbies included woodworking, tending to his gardens and starting a project on the house or yard only to be distracted by a different project.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Spillane Castellon; his mother Nancy Sargent Castellon; his three children and their spouses Michael and Lindsey Castellon; Rebecca and Patrick Sommer; and Robert and Michelle Castellon. He loved his granddaughters Madeline, age 4, and Abigail, age 2, Sommer and one of his greatest regrets is being unable to see them grow up.
He is also survived by his two sisters Linda Tucker and Patti Hines and their children and families including Susanna, Betsey and Jenny; his sister-in laws and their families were always close to him and he loved spending time with them, Sherrill, Bill, Carolyn, Mal, Bob, Jaime, Chris and Mackenzie.
