William K. Chalifour age 59, of Westford, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025. We know our Mom and Dad came to greet him and take him home to God.
William was born in Arlington and raised in Wilmington. He graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in 1984 with electronics as his major. He could fix any electronic item: radio, clock, etc. He also had great instincts when it came to auto mechanics and could hear a noise and diagnose any car or van.
His friend Gregg shared that in William's earlier days, he enjoyed building various electronic projects such as audio amplifiers, electronic color organs AKA disco lights, high voltage Tesla coils, and a multitude of digital circuits. He liked using oscilloscopes, and multimeters and could wield a mean soldering iron. William always had an inquisitive helpful attitude and loved to collaborate with others to push the basics of projects to the next level. William also enjoyed tinkering with cars and liked to modify engines for more horsepower. William had an adventurous mindset and liked camping, hiking in the white mountains in New Hampshire, and going to Hampton Beach with friends. He even took a train to NY Times Square for a day trip from South Station Boston upon a whimsical dare from a friend.
A few years ago, while living in Lowell, he rescued a street cat. I helped him get him to the Lowell Humane Society where he found a loving home and we became friends with the woman who adopted him – providing him the best Afghans and blankets for napping. Later, due to health reasons he was rehomed with a man named Bill – not a coincidence at all – and he's continuing to live his best life! Through William's compassion, a life was saved, and others were enriched. "Moo Moon Kitty" has the best life off the streets now and a connected circle around him.
William's passions included animals, electronics, vehicles, the outdoors, music, 1960s & 70s television shows, and family and friends. He was compassionate, empathetic, had a good sense of humor and was often even a little silly. He loved his sister's cooking, reminiscing and laughing with his brother and sister, and any time he could spend with his dad, Leon, whom he laid to rest just two days before his passing. He also greatly missed his mom, Marilyn – and now joins them both, along with his sister, Margaret.
He had swimming with dolphins on his bucket list and we know he is getting to swim with as many dolphins as he wants now. He was so deeply loved and will be so deeply missed, but knowing he is at peace and with our parents is what will bring us comfort.
William was the beloved son of the late Marilyn J. and late Leon G. Chalifour. He was the brother of Paul Chalifour and his wife Deborah of Wilmington, Dianne Chalifour of Portsmouth, NH, and the late Margaret Chalifour. He has now also joined his beloved grandparents, Angus and Mary (DeMatteo) McPhee. He leaves his Auntie Karen McNaughton, many other aunts and uncles and cousins, and several special friends, including Margo Martel and Gregg Hamilton.
Family and friends will gather at St. Andrew Church, 45 Talbot Ave, North Billerica, MA, on Saturday, April 5th at 11:00am for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave.,
Wilmington, MA on Friday, April 4th from 5:00-7:00pm.
