William P. Cooper II, 72, of Great Falls, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
He was born in Butte, Montana, and raised in Torrance, California. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1968. He received an honorable discharge in 1972 from active duty. He then went into the reserves for another 2 years. He served a total of 6 years in the military. In 1979, Bill moved to Lakewood, Colorado with his young daughter and pregnant wife. There, he attended gun-smithing school. He also took up leatherworking, specializing in saddlebags for Harleys. He was a Jack of All Trades and a fantastic artist. He inspired a lifelong love of hotrods and classic cars to his son. He was a character and left behind many memories with everyone he met. He loved his grandchildren greatly, and his only regret was not being in their lives more.
William is survived by his sons, Jahrome (Emily) Youngker and William P. Cooper III; daughters, Delia Cooper and Jennifer (Joel) Morelock; three grandchildren, Trenten Morelock, KamdynAnn Morelock, and Magnolia Youngker; sisters, Lea Ann (Rick) Townsley, Ruth Cooper, and Delia Cooper; brother, Jim (Linda) Cooper; many nieces and nephews; and Aunt Ruth McIntyre (93).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen C. Cooper; dad and stepmother, William P. and Joyce Cooper; and ex-wife and mother of 3 of his children, Nan Cooper.
William will be buried at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery (Fort Harrison) in Helena, at a later date.
