William Robert Cosmo Baker, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on October 26, 2025, in Walkerton, IN. Born on September 16, 2005, in Plymouth, IN, William's enthusiasm for life and his kind heart touched everyone he knew. William had an infectious personality and his ability to befriend all was unmatched. William has always been the glue in our family, the first to lend a hand, offer comfort, or a warm embrace.
William graduated from John Glenn High School in 2025. Along his way to completing this milestone he touched so many teachers, peers, and students' hearts. Not only through his loving actions, but also with his unforgettable sense of humor. William carried a passion for learning that he eagerly shared as a teacher's aide. He made a meaningful impact on the lives of each child he taught at Walkerton elementary school where he volunteered. His compassion and patience created a nurturing environment that enriched the educational experiences of those he assisted.
A creative soul, William was captivated with art. His love for drawing was evident in the intricate sketches that sprang from his imagination, bringing joy and inspiration to his loved ones. His creativity shined through his Dungeons & Dragons character creation and dialogue. Legos have been one of William's longest passions. Spending hours of his youth creating elaborate structures based on pictures alone, highlighting his intellect and engineering abilities. Anime also held a special place in William's heart, not just as a pastime but as a window to diverse storytelling that delighted his artistic spirit. William's love for anime sparked a new interest in Japanese culture.
Family moments were treasured by William, and reminiscing about the times he spent with them brings warmth and smiles. From the laughter-filled 4-wheeler rides since the young age of 4, to the present day where he shared the joys of his female chicken named Chucky. Most dear to William's heart was his dog Jack who he loved, trained, and cared for. Spending hours in the sun playing in the pool and even more hours playing his favorite video games. William's favorite game to play was Shinobi Striker, on the PlayStation 5 – a thoughtful gift from his older brother – these memories will be held dear forever.
William is survived by his loving parents, Jeremy and Michelle (McNeal) Baker; his sister, Brittany (John)(David, Timothy, and Shelby) Zimmerman; his sister, Trinity Baker; his brother, Tristan Causey (Eric Morris); his brother, Bentley McNeal; and his maternal grandmother, Penny (Wenger) McNeal. He joins in rest his maternal grandfather, Melvin McNeal; his paternal grandmother, Sherlin Kay Baker; and his brother, Jessie Sickmiller.
William loved everyone and would take away all our pain. In our hearts this poem spoke true to William for us.
I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free.
