Dexter – William Cromer, age 84, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Dublinair Health Care and Rehab in Dublin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. until time for the service Saturday at Mathis Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
William, born January 17,1941 in Schley County, was the son of the late Marcus Nelson and Estelle Cromer and was preceded in death by his brothers, Carlton Cromer and Edward Cromer and his sister, Lorie Lovett. He worked on the family farm with his dad until he was 18 years old. He then went to work with Farron's Tree Service traveling all around Georgia. In 1965 he found himself in Cochran where he met his wife and they were married that year and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 21st. William worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation and retired in 1997 after 30 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his garden, maintaining his yard and taking care of his pond where he took his mother-in-law fishing almost every day. Later he would share his love for gardening and fishing with his grandsons.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Fountain Cromer of Dexter; his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Rodney Bland of Cochran; his grandsons, Austin Bland and Matthew Bland; his brother, John Cromer of Panama City, FL; his sister-in-law, Sherry Cromer of Panama City, FL; special friends, Mell and Dorothy Bland of Cochran.
The family is at 1846 Tipton Circle, Dexter.
