William Patrick Daly

William P. (Bill) Daly, 93, of Arnold MD, passed away on August 5, 2025. Bill was born in Yonkers, NY in 1932 to the late William P. Daly and Mary Curran Daly. He had three sisters, Caroline (deceased), Mary (Debbie) and Kathy and attended Gorton High School, excelling in Math and Science. He was an avid basketball player, as a 6'2" center in an era where that was considered very tall. He graduated from Manhattan College with a BS in Electrical Engineering and served in the Naval Reserve. He married Kathy Brennan of Rye, NY in 1959. Bill had a brief stint as a music producer, starting his own jazz label with friends and then went on to have a stellar 45 year career in aircraft and spacecraft electronics, notably working on Apollo technology and the B-2 bomber, working for Sperry Rand, Airborne Instruments Laboratory, and Litton. He received an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Brooklyn Polytech. Bill and wife Kathy raised four boys in Smithtown NY (Bill, Dave, Tim, and John) and relocated from NY to Maryland in 1984. He loved music, reading, hiking, and sports of all kinds, particularly favoring the St. Louis Cardinals and the NY Giants. Bill was known for his quiet demeanor, wry sense of humor, and his total dedication to his family. Bill is survived by his wife Kathy, sons Bill, Dave, Tim, and John, and grandchildren Ashleigh, Patrick, Ryan, Seamus, Aidan, and Daniel. A funeral and mass will be held September 5, at 11 am at St. Andrew by the Bay, 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409 . In lieu of flowers and donations, contributions can be made to Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, 647 Contees Wharf Rd, Edgewater, MD 21037 where Bill was a longtime volunteer.
