William Frank Davis Obituary
William Frank Davis, Sr., passed away at his residence in Florala, Alabama at the grand age of 93, with his loving wife of nearly seventy-four years by his side. He was born September 20, 1930 in Niceville, Florida to parents, William Davis and Mary Francis Regans Davis.
Growing up near the water, it's no wonder William Frank was attracted to the marine industry. He was a Charter Boat Captain, businessman, and entrepreneur.
After marrying the love of his life, Peggy Ann Melvin, William Frank became a father to three, wonderful sons; Tony, Frank, and Tommy. He was such an unselfish husband, father, friend, and citizen. A captain for over forty years did not keep him from contributing other ways to his community, church, and family. Although he was well known for "running around docks", he was not "just a boat captain", but so much more.
He was a member of the Destin Water Board, as well as the Commodore of Blessing of the Fleet for over forty years. Therefore, it's no surprise that he is in the Destin Fishing Hall of Fame. Instrumental in building the Niceville High School and Okaloosa Walton Community College, William Frank served as a member of the Okaloosa County School Board. A generous spirit embodied him, as he was a busy man, owning both Destin Ice House and Rib Shack of Destin.
William Frank was truly a man of faith, whom loved his Lord with every fiber of his being. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Florala in Alabama.
A hard worker and big-hearted man, he was known as a person who would give away his time and money for family and friends. Around the docks, William Frank kept the atmosphere fun and lively. He will be missed by many.
William Frank is survived by his beautiful wife, Peggy Ann Davis; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony Davis, Frank (Molly) Davis, and Tommy (Marcia) Green; grandchildren, Erin (Chad) Bryant, Matt Davis and mother, Carrie Harbarger, Kendra (Vince) Marasa, Billy (Sarah) Davis, Hanna Davis, Jim Green, Clayton Green, and Preston Green; great grandchildren, Brett Bryant, Oliver Davis, Hiller Davis, Frankee Davis, Vinny Marasa, and Joseph Marasa; sister, Dorothy Clark; brother, Jim (Edith) Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friend, Robin Lanier.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Anglican Church of Destin. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., while burial will follow at Destin Memorial in Destin, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in William Frank Davis's honor to Immanuel Anglican Church and First Lutheran Church of Florala.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to all who have loved on them in every capacity during their time of loss.
