Joseph Houston Oglesby peacefully passed away on July 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on March 23, 1940, in
Holley-Navarre, Fl to Louise and Thomas Oglesby. He was raised in the Wright community, where he developed the strong values that would guide him throughout his life - a tireless work ethic, a deep love for family, and a quiet strength that left an impression on everyone he met.
In his early years, Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. His time in the service not only gave him the opportunity to see the world but also instilled in him a deep sense of honor and discipline that stayed with him throughout his life.
After his military service, Joe worked for and later retired from for Okaloosa Gas Company for thirty years before going on to run his own business, Oglesby Heating and Air.
He served his community faithfully and with integrity - never needing to advertise, never listed in the phone book. Joe believed that if you treated people right and did honest work, your reputation would speak for itself - and his certainly did.
More than anything, Joe was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to his beloved wife, Patricia, with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Joe and Pat were married in 1965 and together built a life filled with love, resilience, and unwavering commitment. Through the ups and downs, they stood by each other as a shining example of a lasting partnership.
Joe was also a proud father to two sons, Joseph Heath Oglesby and Shane Dupree Oglesby who carry on his legacy of integrity, strength, and love for family.
Joe was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for years. When he was not working, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family. He took a hunting trip each year in Llano, Texas which is something he always looked forward to doing.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Louise Heyward and Thomas Oglesby, his brothers Roy Oglesby, Hubert Oglesby, and his grandson Wyatt Houston Oglesby. He is survived by his devoted wife Patricia Oglesby, his sons Joseph Heath Oglesby(Connie) and Shane Dupree Oglesby(Deanne), his grandchildren Haley Hallberg(Harlan), Taylor Barnhill (Cody), Ali, Alex, Anthony, and Brittany. Joe is also survived by four great grandsons that all got to know their Pawpaw, Joseph Caden, Easton Brehm, Owen Riley and Tate Houston. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Douglas Oglesby, sisters Judy Nicholson and Ruby Moyer, his sister in laws Gloria Williams(David) and Shirley Gabbard.
