William "Bill" Davis, age 68, died at his home in Elkton on May 23, 2025. He joins his beloved wife, Debbie, who he has missed every day since she passed 4 years ago.
Born December 24, 1956 to James "Jim" and Jean Davis, he was raised in Elizabeth, NJ and attended Jefferson High School.
From a young age one of Bill's greatest passions was the Green Bay Packers. No matter how the season was going, who the quarterback or coach was, no one could convince him that the Packers were NOT going to win the Super Bowl that year.
He went on to study at the University of Delaware where he met the love of his life and future wife Debbie, as well as many life-long friends at Lane Hall. Throughout the years Bill always looked forward to yearly reunions and monthly Zoom calls where he and his friends would listen to music, catch up on life and always give each other a hard time about sports (often directed towards Captain Bill and The Packers).
After college, Bill and Debbie traveled and lived in California for 5 wonderful years. They came back to Delaware to start a family and had two daughters, Rebecca and Kristina. Throughout all of his roles, the one he was best at was father. He served as their brightest guiding light in all matters of life, and they will forever cherish his guidance. He could always be counted on to answer the phone, and Becca and Kristina took advantage of that almost daily, calling to talk about important life events, or just the most recent episode of Survivor.
Bill had an impressive career working as a Project Manager for the State of Delaware and Delaware Army National Guard. He retired after 34 years and was awarded a medal from the Army Corps for superior service.
After retirement and lovingly caring for Debbie for 10 years before she passed, Bill enjoyed keeping a spotless yard and house, visiting his friends, and watching the Packers and Phillies. He was happy to help watch his grandson Arlo, where they read lots of books and shared Auntie Anne's soft pretzels. He also loved taking trips to West Virginia to see grandchildren Carter, Cohen and Callynn play their various sports.
One of his greatest prides was being a Grandpa and "Pa" to his beloved grandkids, Carter, Cohen, Callynn, and Arlo, and they will all miss him dearly. They will grow up always being reminded of how much their Grandpa loved them.
Bill was pre-deceased by his wife Debbie and his parents James and Jean Davis. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Becca and Kristina and their husbands, Jared and Dave. Bill is survived by his sister, Ellen and brother, Tom, who will always hold a special place in his heart. He will be laid to rest next to Debbie where they will be together once again, and he will forever be singing "Go, Pack go!".
Services will be held on Saturday, May 31. Viewing will be on Saturday morning at 9:00am with service immediately following at Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home at 212 N Broad Street, Middletown DE. Burial will follow the services at Gracelawn Cemetery.
