William Lustfield

WILLIAM (Bill) SPENCER LUSTFIELD of Dover DE passed away on October 31st, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born on August 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. He is survived by the love of his life, his very best friend and wife of over 51 years, Mary Ann D. Lustfield also of Dover, DE, his sister Susan Woodrum and her husband David Woodrum of Seattle, WA, his best friends Clyde Bishop of Washington, DC and Tom Butler of Ellicott City, MD and many loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Charles D. Lustfield of Dallas, TX, and his mother and father Dorothy F. Lustfield and Lester B. Lustfield of Chicago, Illinois.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Arizona State University. He received a Ford Foundation Fellowship to attend the University of Delaware where he received a Master's degree in sociology. After receiving his Master's degree, he was given a University Fellowship by the University of Delaware to complete his Ph.D. in public policy analysis. He finished his academic career by teaching at Delaware State University for 30 years where he enjoyed teaching and interactions with his good colleague and friend Paul Glaeseman. Bill was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He truly enjoyed a good laugh, the outdoors, his scotch and his jazz. He enjoyed life.
Memorial services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday November 18th, 2025, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. Friends and family may gather one hour prior.
