Obituary of William Anthony DeCrisci
Mr. William "Bill" Anthony DeCrisci, 86, of Schuyler, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the St. Luke's Home in New Hartford, with his loving family by his side.
William was born in Utica, on May 25, 1936, the son of Angelo and Angela DeCrisci. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1954 graduate of Proctor High School. Bill proudly served in the US Army Reserves for six years. On July 27, 1957, Bill was united in marriage with Marilyn Victoria Pole at St. Anthony's Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 47 years, until Marilyn's death in 2004. At one time, Bill was employed with Chicago Market in Utica, and for 53 years, until his retirement, as a divisional supervisor with Rite Aid where his was respected and admired by all his coworkers. After retirement, he began delivering Meals on Wheels, a job he truly loved and one he found to be greatly rewarding. In his younger years, Bill was an avid fisherman and enjoyed horse racing at Vernon Downs, playing pinocle, renting camps in the Adirondacks and even dabbled in country line dancing with his wife. He also enjoyed family vacations, family dinners, the casino, playing board games and spending time at Sylvan Beach. You could always find Bill in the box of cookies, with his hand on the biggest sticky bun. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mark's Church in N. Utica as well as the Perpetual Adoration Society. Bill will be remembered as for his beautiful head of hair, his kind smile and gentle nature. Bill's family was truly the joy of his life, especially spending time with his adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the rock of the family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. DeCrisci is survived by his loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Geralynn and Earl Dousharm of Schuyler; Cherished grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) Marlenga of Utica, Brad (Bethany) Niederlander of North Creek, NY and Brian (Christina) Dousharm of Floyd, NY; adored great grandchildren, Victoria Hope, Everly Quinn, Kay and Ava Rose; sister and brother-in-law, MaryAnn and Joe Secard of CA; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Robert and Jennie DeCrisci of NV, Vince and Joni DeCrisci of CA and Pauline Polinski of Utica; nieces and nephews, Chris (Peter), Paula (Ernie), Pam (Bill), Eddie (Lisa), Jodie (Shad), Tiffany, Tracy (Steven), Dean (Martha) and Dawn (Alan) and a great niece and nephew, Meagan and PJ. Besides his wife Marilyn, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ronald Polinski.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to William's funeral Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 440 Keyes Rd., N. Utica. He will be laid to rest with his beloved Marilyn in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Those wishing to make a donation in Bill's memory, please consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at church.
William's daughter extends her heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the St. Luke's Home, Clark North for the loving care and compassion you provided to him. A special thanks to Cheryl, Sue and Donna for your love and support during this most difficult time. You are my earth angels. Finally, thank you God for my wonderful family, especially my loving husband and rock, Earl, for always being there for me and dad, as I cared for him during his illness.
