Obituary of William DeJesus
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved, William De Jesus Torres, who was called up to heaven to rest on July 21, 2024 at 1:55pm at the age of 75 years old at The Samaritan Hospice Center at Voorhees, in Voorhees, NJ, surrounded by his family's love and prayers.
After a long fight with Parkinson's Disease, which he fought a courageous battle, being the brave soldier that he was.
William De Jesus was born to parents, Victor De Jesus and Julia DeJesus (Torres) in a small island of Puerto Rico and then as a young boy raised in a town called Dunkirk, NY where he spent his childhood and teen life with his siblings and attended school there.
At the age of 18, he was able to join the Army and serve his country for approximately 8 years, earning his National Defense Service medal, 1st class hand grenade, marksman and blaster in Jersey City, NJ. In between that journey he met his wife of 52 years, Felicidad Ramos in Jersey City and married her on March 5, 1972, and together they created a family. William was a faithful active member of his church, Iglesia Pentecostal Fuente De Agua Viva A & O Inc., Pastors David and Ana Rodriguez.
William De Jesus Torres is survived by his wife, Felicidad De Jesus Ramos of Vineland; three children from Vineland, oldest daughter, Yajaira De Jesus, middle daughter, Joanne De Jesus Ramos (Orlando D. Martinez), youngest son, William De Jesus Jr. (Amagaly Ramos); 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Edith M. De Jesus, Carmen De Jesus, Wilda De Jesus, Joanne Ehlman and 2 brothers, Neftali De Jesus and Edwin De Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his youngest brother Samuel Angel De Jesus, mother Julia De Jesus (Torres), father Victor De Jesus, and his oldest sister Noelia Salgado.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 10am to 11am followed by funeral services at 11am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland, NJ. Burial will follow at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Bridgeton, NJ.
