William Randall Dick, known affectionately to all as Randy, was a man who could spark joy with his inventive spirit and a knack for making the ordinary extraordinary. Born on March 8, 1957, in the captivating mists of Niagara Falls, Canada, Randy's life was as vibrant and awe-inspiring as the natural wonder itself. Sadly, on October 1, 2025, in the warm embrace of Stuard, FL, Randy's final curtain call came, but not before he left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Randy was a devoted family man, and while he may have been handy around the house, his greatest project was his loving family. His wife, Denise Dick, was his cornerstone, his co-pilot through life's highway. His daughter Danielle Samartano could always count on him, while his other daughter, Rochelle Satow, and son-in-law Jeff knew him as the go-to guy for creative solutions. Michael Dicons, his son, and daughter-in-law Rachael, recognized Randy as more than just a father; he was a mentor and occasional partner-in-crime. His grandchildren, John, Dominic, Savannah, Brooke, and Caleb, will remember his larger-than-life tales and the twinkle in his eye just before he pulled a coin from behind their ears or "got" their nose.

For over 40 years, Randy worked as a CNC mechanical engineer, where he shaped more than just metal. His legacy continued at the University of Florida Scripps as an operator, where he was the mastermind behind the scenes, ensuring everything ran like a well-oiled machine. Or, in his case, a perfectly tuned guitar string.

Speaking of guitars, Randy's passion for music was only matched by his love for the open road on his motorcycle, the salty breeze in his face as he dove deep into the ocean, and the thrill of bringing boats, cars, and houses back to life with his skilled hands. He was the man who could cook a steak as exquisitely as he could fix a carburetor, savor a fine bourbon, or puff on a cigar while contemplating the mysteries of the universe, or more likely, his next project.

Randy was the embodiment of the words handy, creative, and generous. He could turn a pile of wood into a work of art, and his sense of humor was the essential tool in his kit. Randy didn't just tell jokes; he lived them, with a wink and a nod that said, "Life's too short to take seriously."

The world was Randy's comedy club, and he played every room with the confidence of a seasoned stand-up. Whether he was strumming his guitar, revving his motorcycle, or crafting yet another masterpiece, he did it with a smile and a joke that could make even the sternest of faces crack.

As we bid farewell to Randy, we celebrate a man who was truly one of a kind. His laughter echoes in our memories, his wisdom in our daily lives, and his spirit in every project we dare to dream up. Randy, Dad, Grandpa – you may have taken your final bow, but your encore will last forever in our hearts. Thank you for the laughter, the lessons, and the legacy. Curtain down, standing ovation, and not a dry eye in the house.

I just recently got to know Randy working at UF Scripps. I first saw his vintage FLH in the parking lot and wanted to know who owned it. Someone told me "the new guy in Facilities owned it. In the 20 yrs I´ve been here there was only one other person who rode an HD beside myself, so I was definitely wanted to meet him. About an hour later he dropped by my office area saying he had heard I was looking for him. We talked Harley´s and about Fort Pierce as I live up here as well. We´re the same age and it´s nice to talk to someone who actually remembers the moon landings or similar events. He always had time for a chat when we´d run into each other. I was both shocked and saddened when I heard of his passing. May God you Randy.

So sad to hear of Randy's untimely passing- will miss seeing him around the "hood", walking Coal and Casper, as I walked my Bojangles. Lately we were mostly comparing recent surgeries, but he just kept on going, regardless! Wish I had known him and Denise better- more interests in common than I knew! Beautifully written obituary... I am so sorry for your family's loss- he was one of the good guys! Cecily Jarvis-IRE
