William Patrick "Pat" Dougherty, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was born in Bowling Green, KY on August 24, 1949, to the late Joseph William & Betty Dougherty. He was a 1967 graduate of Borden High School where he excelled in basketball, baseball, track, and cross country. He went on to graduate from Indiana University Southeast, receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting. During college, Pat began working at Brown & Williamson where he worked his entire career. His career led him around the world and he retired as Director of Accounting in 2000. He thoroughly enjoyed all his travels and the many lifelong friendships he made at B&W. Pat was also a member of the New Albany Jaycees.
Pat was a devoted family man and enjoyed his most favorite role in life of being "Pat-Pa." If you knew Pat, you probably heard his favorite saying, "I live for my girls" and after grandkids, "I live for my girls and boys." He truly lived by this every single day, and it was evident in everything he did. He rarely missed an event in which his girls or his grandkids played a part. Family vacations were his absolute favorite, and nothing made him happier than having his family all together.
Besides his love for family and travel, he was an avid golfer who was very proud of achieving 3 hole-in-ones throughout his years of golfing. When he wasn't watching his grandkids play sports, he loved cheering on the Louisville Cardinals and the Providence Pioneers. Pat had a passion for music, sharing his favorite Doo-wop songs with anyone around him. Faith was the foundation of Pat's life and he was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friend Dennis Farmer.
Pat is survived by the love of his life, Chris Dougherty; daughters, Brittany Morton and Alicia Frederick (Bradley). The greatest blessings of his life were his grandchildren, Riley Morton, Landry Logsdon, William Kash Elliott, and Knox, Cruz, and Owen Patrick Frederick. He had a great love for his siblings who also survive him: Mike (Becky) Dougherty; Ed (Lisa) Dougherty; Carol (Rick) O'Bryan; David (Debbie) Dougherty; John Dougherty (Barbie Sutton Smith); Kevin (Clare) Dougherty; Katherine Sears and a very special sister-in-law, Dixie (Jeff) Golden. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; whom he absolutely adored. Other survivors include his Aunt Margie Joy (Bob) and a multitude of dear friends.
