William Henry Dunson

William Henry Dunson, 85, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on March 17, 2023. William was born on May 18, 1937 in Repton, Alabama. William graduated from Pensacola High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a telegraph operator. He worked as a mechanic at Armstrong World Industries where he retired after 40 ½ years. He was married to the love of his life, Linda. William coached baseball for many years at Bellview Ballpark. He was an active member of The Beulah Baptist Church for many years and later became a member of the Beulah Church. He was the owner of Panhandle Nursery and loved to garden and fish. William's family was the light of his life!
William was preceded in death by his first grandchild, John William Wass; mother, Willie Mae Dunson Broadus; step-father, Ernest G. Broadus; five brothers, James, Charles, O'Neal, Calvin and Buddy; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Dunson.
William is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years. Linda Dunson; daughter, Beth (Scott) Wass; Sons, Keith Dunson (fiancé Renae) and Tim (Tina) Dunson; grandchildren, Daniel (Kendall) Wass, Smokey (Aimee) Wass, Brittany Dunson (Meghan), Allen Dunson, Amanda (Shawn) McCoy; great grandchildren, Reece, Tyler, Beckett and Anola McCoy, John William Wass & Baby Wass, Parker; and brother, Melvin (Lockett) Broadus.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 6-8pm Wednesday, March 22nd. Funeral services will take place at 1:00pm Thursday, March 23rd at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. < Back to Obituaries
