William Durr, of Middletown, New York, passed away peacefully.

Born in Mount Vernon, New York, William grew up in Airmont, NY. He was the beloved son of the late William Durr and Mary Louise Peters Durr. William proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1973 and continued his service in the Naval Reserves until 1978, achieving the rank of Construction Mechanic Chief Petty Officer. He later dedicated much of his career to hard work and service-first as the co-owner of HL Ayers, and later retiring from Ditch Witch after more than 25 years of service.

In addition to his career, William gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter and through his service on the Mamakating Zoning Board.

He is survived by his partner, Margaret Andersen; his adopted family: Kevin Andersen, Courtney Andersen, Julia Andersen, and Nicholas Andersen; and his sisters, Diane McKemy and her husband, Tim McKemy, and Jackie Cantor-Weiss. He is also survived by his daughter, April Marie Durr and her family. William was predeceased by his wife, Judith Durr, and his son, Jason Durr.

William's life was one of resilience, dedication, and love for his family. His memory will live on through all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
