I'm saddened to read of the passing of 'Sgt. Eagar'. That's the only name I knew him by, when my Dad introduced me to him on their reutrun from a fishing day and night out on Washburn's Island in 1970. It was always and only Sgt. Eagar. A Wonderful and fun practical joker of a guy, as I knew him then.
I sat here this morning and wrote out what may have been, easily, over a 1000 word message with two memories I have of him... I lost it!
When my Dad retired in 1969 from the Airforce at Otis AFB, he bought a boat. For the next two or three years, my Dad, Sgt. Eagar and a couple other buddies, (Sonny & Buck), would take it out at dawn to Washburn's in the Spring for Stipers, in the Summer for Blues out on Horseshoe Shoals, Mackerel fishing out in the bay off the east end of the Cape Cod Canal and dragging for Scallops in Waquoit Bay. I went along with them a few times and had a lot of fun! It was fun and games with Sgt. Eagar playing lil jokes on me.
My sincerest condolences to all the Family. A Great guy and friend to my Dad, as I knew him.
GOD Bless
