William Leroy Ettinger

William "Bill" Leroy Ettinger, 69, of Ashtabula, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, October 31, 2025. Born April 2, 1956, in California, William was the son of the late Howard and Pearl (Brown) Ettinger. He graduated from Edgewood High School in the Class of 1974 and spent many dedicated years working in the lab at General Aluminum. A proud member of the Masons and the EAC, Bill was deeply involved in his community. He coached Little League baseball, midgit football for the Colts, and Cougar wrestling-always cheering on his children with unwavering enthusiasm. His love for sports extended to his favorite teams: the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Guardians Indians. He never missed a chance to support the teams his children and grandchildren played for, and his presence on the sidelines was a cherished constant. Bill found joy in photography and golfing, but nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his family. His children and grandchildren were truly the apple of his eye. He is survived by his children: Bobby Ettinger, Stephanie Claypool (Greg Baker), and Jim Ettinger (Erica); his brothers: Gary Ettinger (Robin) and Jim Ettinger (Carmen); grandchildren: Gracie, Timmy Jr., and Sydney Claypool; Corinne Baker; and Addison and Clayton Ettinger. He is also remembered by his former wife and mother of his children, Clarrissa Ettinger; his in-laws, Clara and Bob Marks; and many beloved nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Ettinger; sisters, Cindy and Gale Ettinger; and his parents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William's name to his family.
