William Evans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Sacred Choice - Houston on Sep. 18, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

William Taylor Evans was called to his Heavenly home on September 17, 2025. Bill was handsome and charming, a sharp dresser who loved to wear colorful socks and ties. Bill never met a stranger. He talked to everyone his daughters would often say. He was a good and honest man, a great husband, father and grandfather. He was a true gentleman, always treating everyone with kindness and respect.

Bill was born on March 29, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of William L. and Dorothy Evan's. He attended Pascal High School and graduated from TCU in 1970 with a degree in history. He was a proud member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a Horned Frog fan for life.

Bill loved his grandmother "Mimi", going to the family farm on the Nolan River, helping with farm work, riding horses and hunting in the woods. Bill also enjoyed local rodeos and several times competed in events including bull riding, the Fort Worth Rodeo Parade and rodeo grand entries. His greatest influence was his mother. She was a woman of faith. When Bill was upset, she would put her arm around him and say "Suga, let's just wait and see what God has planned." She was his faith hero.

Bill entered the real estate industry and practiced Real Estate Appraisal Brokerage and Development for 50 years. It was in Houston that he met the love of his life Lee and they married in 1975. They had a wonderful marriage, true partners in life.

Bill enjoyed time with his family, his wonderful friends, TCU football, dove hunting, golf, tennis, dancing and laughing, a perfectly made Old Fashioned (not too sweet or it would go back for repair), making his "famous" smoked salmon and vacations with family and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his brother Scott Evans, parents William Leroy and Dorothy Taylor Evans, his aunt and uncle Ann and Jack Henckels and his cousins Dudley Henckels, Kirk Henckels and Mary McLean Wilson. He is survived by his wife Lee Wilson Evans, daughters Lee-Taylor Sharman and husband Riley, Pamela Sanders and husband Will, sister Cindy Evans and brother Jim Evans. Bill was buddy to his grandchildren Thomas Wilson Sanders, Elizabeth Lee (Betsy) Sanders and Kirby Evans Sharman.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church on September 25 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road, Houston, Texas 77057.
