William Farrell, age 85 of Saegertown passed away Friday morning, January 3, 2025, at Crawford County Care Center.
He was born in Washington, DC on December 14, 1939, a son of Joseph and Mary (Payne) Farrell. Bill had been married to the former Diane Shimp, she preceded him in death. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961. Bill was employed as an electrician for the District of Columbia, an electrician at Spectrum Control and retired from Meadville Forging Co. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with Prince George's FD, Fire Station 825-Clinton, MD. He was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church.
He is survived by six children, Loraine “Lorie” Farrell and her husband Doug of Rimersburg, PA, Lisa Collins and her husband Jim of Centerville, MD, Lynette Passilla and her husband Tony of Saegertown, William H. Farrell and his wife Nora of San Antonio, TX, Michael L. Farrell and his wife Alexandra of Bradenton, FL, and Katherine Garcia of Jacksonville, FL.; two sisters, Mary Arnold and Sheila Maddox both of Hague, VA; 16 grandchildren, Justin, Amber, Jared, Adam, David, Dustin, Abigail, Ava, Shane, Meagan, Victoria, Alexandra, Brandon, Emily, Jameson, and Olivia and seven great grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Penelope, Olive, Madison, Ceyson, Leighlyn, and Lydia; several nieces and nephews .
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Leanne Marie Farrell, son-in-law Andy Garcia, a brother Joseph Farrell, and a sister Patricia (Patsy) McNeese, a grandson Mathew Paul Grube.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday 1-8-25 at 2:00 PM in ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. 581 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE with Rev. Jane Ellen Nickell, retired Allegheny College Chaplain, officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday 1-8-25 from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens where Venango VFW Post #169 will render military honors.
