Joan Farrell

Joan Farrell, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. She was born on December 4, 1929.

Joan was raised with love and strength by her aunts, Kathryn and May Farrell, who played a defining role in her life and helped shape the independent and curious woman she became.

She was predeceased by her beloved cousins, Jack Farrell, Russell and Florence Farrell, Robert and Millie Farrell, Elinor and Jack McCarthy, James Miller, and James Federico; and by her niece, Kim Devlin, and nephew, Timmy McCarthy.

Joan had a lifelong love of art and travel, with a special fondness for exploring Asia and experiencing different cultures. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage. She found great joy in learning, engaging in meaningful conversations, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her cousins, Nancy Federico and Betty Ann Miller; her loving nieces and nephews, Sean and Sandra Farrell, Jannine Farrell, Susan Federico, Lynn and Vinny DeRobertis, Cindy and Tim Phelan, Casey and James Gray, and Brad Miller.

She also leaves behind many cherished members of the younger generation of the family whom she loved dearly: Kiley Doyle, Kate Devlin, Kathryn DeRobertis, Anna Phelan, Lauren ViVenzio, Maggie Phelan, Brianna Bottomley, Stephanie Gray, Max Devlin, Ryan Farrell, Josie Devlin, Erica Gray, and Aley Phelan.

Joan will be remembered for her curiosity about the world, her love of art and travel, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, March 11th at St. John Vianney Church in West Haven at 10AM. Burial will follow at Saint Bernards Cemetery in New Haven.
