William Watson Ferguson

William Watson "Bill" Ferguson, a longtime member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Bloomfield Hills, passed into eternal life the morning of Thursday, October 20, 2022 in Rochester Hills, at the age of 83.
Bill will be remembered for his faithfulness to God, dedication to the mission and ministries of Beautiful Savior, and love for his family and friends. He greeted many people with grace and a smile as an usher, he shared his time and resources to serve those who were less fortunate, did much behind-the-scenes work on the church Property Team, and he expressed his Christian love in many other ways.
Beloved husband of Jackie for 43 years. Loving father of Jeff (Jeanine), Douglas (Kim), Cindy Thomas, Scott (Kim), Dawn Bolter (David), Michael T. Ferguson, and Michael R. Ferguson (Chris). Also survived by many loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was born on November 13, 1938 in Detroit to William Abraham and Ada Catherine Ferguson (nee Watson). He graduated from Persian High School and had already started working at the age of 16 in retail. After 25 years in the business, he retired from Sears as the store manager of the Frandor Mall in Lansing. Shortly after Bill started his next career in real estate, and 32 years later retired from Real Estate One in Troy.
Bill was a helpful man and extremely handy. He could fix most things and very much enjoyed working with his hands. He was an honest person and trusted friend to many. Bill loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also liked boating, time on the water, and traveling to new places.
Memorial service Wednesday, October 26, 11am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church 5631 N. Adams Rd. Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304. Visitation at church begins 10am.
In lieu of flowers Bill's family requests that memorial tributes be dedicated to the "Matthew 25 Fund" that supports people who are hungry, homeless, and financially struggling. The name of this fund is based on a parable Jesus shared in Matthew 25 about how we love Jesus when we love those who are experiencing difficult times. Bill was committed to caring for people in need, especially those who struggled to find housing, and so this will be a fitting dedication.
