William Francis "Ugh" Flynn, 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
Born in Tewksbury on February 13, 1947, he was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Noonan) Flynn. He grew up on Moore Street in Lowell and was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart School and Keith Academy. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Political Science from Merrimack College.
Following college, He joined the United States Army, serving proudly with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. For his service and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
After returning home, he began a long career with the Massachusetts Department of Employment and Training, where he worked for more than thirty years before retiring. Not one to sit still, he later worked several years at the IRS in Andover.
Golf was his lifelong passion. He became a member of Longmeadow Golf Club shortly after his military service and remained a devoted member ever since. He played courses all over the country-always keeping every scorecard from every round.
He loved attending the yearly races at Saratoga with his friends, he was an avid runner, and also enjoyed bowling. He was a devoted fan of all the Boston Teams.
Bill is survived by his sister, Patricia (Flynn) Luz of Lowell; his nephews, Greg Luz of Huntington Beach, CA, and Sean Luz of Lowell; and his grandnephews, Jack and Max. He is also survived by his former wife and dear friend, Margaret (Hartwick) Wallus; his nieces, Courtney Famolare and Elizabeth Putman; his goddaughter, Kristen Nelson; and many good friends, including Tommy Hickey and Dave Sousa.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at Saint Anthony's Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell, MA, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery.
