William Gadow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Jan. 15, 2024.
William M. Gadow, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids with family at his side.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Daniel Williams will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for relatives and friends will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the church.
Bill was born February 26, 1938 in Illinois, the son of Martin and Lillian (Stoeckmann) Gadow. He graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School and Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, class of 1956. He furthered his education by earning a Professional Engineering Certificate from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He married Annette Wipfli on October 6, 1962 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Bill served his country in the Army National Guard during the Berlin Crisis. He was proud of his service and was an active member of American Legion Post 442 where he served as treasurer.
He worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. in the Kraft Division for over 40 years, retiring as a maintenance foreman.
Bill loved hunting and fishing, especially trout fishing. He belonged to a hunting club, known as The Deer Shack, with his son Brian. He enjoyed tinkering in his shed, doing woodworking, and dinner and cards with Father Karoblis. He was especially fond of his labrador retrievers, who always seemed to know how to catch a ride in Bill's truck.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Annette; son, Brian (Beth) Gadow; two grandchildren: Kasey (Aaron) Koeller and their son, Jason, and Jared Gadow and his children Oaklyn and Jacklyn; step grandchildren: Melissa, Peter, and Carolyn Czerwinski; special niece, Cheryl Routten (Dennis) LaBarge; several other nieces and nephews; and a very special four-legged friend, Molly. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott; and brother, Martin "Bud" Gadow.
Special thanks to the entire staff at Aspirus Riverview Hospital, especially nurse Courtney, for the exceptional care given to Bill and his family.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
