William Francis "Bill" Gibson passed away quietly on Saturday, May 11 2024, at his home. Bill was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He had an amazing memory for birthdates and phone numbers.
If you were lucky, you were on his phone list of about 50 friends whom he called frequently for many years.
Bill was born to Charles and Evalyn Gibson on February 18, 1945 in Columbia, South Carolina. He grew up in Cotton Valley, Louisiana and lived and worked many years in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was assisted by The Arc of Caddo Bossier with employment and supportive independent living. His favorite job was at the Horseshoe Casino where he was treated kindly for many years. He was proud of having his own apartment. Bill was an avid LSU and Saints fan and loved watching games on TV.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Gibson, Ill. He is survived by his sister, Gay Gibson Corbell and husband Kevin; nephew, Cliff Corbell and wife, Molly, and family Evalyn, Adalena, and Glenn; nephew, Charles Gibson IV; sister-in-law, Eloise Gibson; in-laws, Kelly Corbell and wife, Tammy, and Kathy Campbell and husband, Leonard. He is also survived by Tammy Smith, his special friend and caregiver.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Corbell, Cliff Corbell, Charles Gibson IV, Kelly Corbell and Leonard Campbell.
The family would like to express special thanks to his caregivers, Joyce, Flo, Vernita and Sheila for their care and compassion along with Christus Hospice nurses and staff.
The family suggests memorials may be made to The Arc Caddo Bossier, 351 Jordan St., Shreveport, LA 71101 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
