William Mark Goodson

William Mark Goodson, age 60, passed away on October 1, 2025, following a tragic accident at his auto repair shop. He was born on October 15, 1964, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late William Goodson and June Sumlin Goodson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Griswell.

Mark graduated from Forest Park High School in 1982 and was a longtime resident of Sharpsburg, GA, where he built a successful automotive repair business. He was known for his wry sense of humor, fierce loyalty, and unwavering convictions. He loved fast cars and good friends-but above all, he cherished his family. A gifted auto mechanic, Mark owned and operated Goodson Automotive on his property in Sharpsburg. He had been fixing cars since he was a teenager and earned a reputation as "the BMW Doctor." Everyone knew that if Mark had the time, he could fix just about anything. His creative problem-solving skills and meticulous craftsmanship earned him not only loyal customers but lifelong friends. Outside the shop, Mark had a passion for Legends auto racing, metalworking, and building intricate figures from spare nuts and bolts-small sculptures that reflected both his artistic eye and skilled hands.

Mark is survived by his son, Alexander Gray Goodson (Emmi); his daughter, Jessica Sarah Jones Goodson; his brother, Rick Griswell (Anne); his sister-in-law, Michele Griswell; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

A private burial will take place at a later date. Mark's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
