William Gramig Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Willis Funeral Service and S&S Crematory from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

William (Bill) Mansfield Gramig Jr. returned to our Heavenly Father on November 20, 2025.
Bill was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on February 27, 1939. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Josephine and William Gramig Sr., and by his sister, Carolyn Kolbrook. He leaves behind his loving children Jennifer Green (Rayburn Green), Greta Gramig, and Billy Gramig (Vicki); his cherished grandchildren Caroline Grace Gramig and William Mansfield Gramig IV; as well as his steadfast companion, Joyce Curtis.
Bill grew up in Louisville and attended Saint Xavier High School. He went on to earn his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville in 1962, followed by his M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1966. A proud supporter of the Fighting Irish, Bill loved cheering on Notre Dame throughout his life.
He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a Chemical Engineer with Eastman Kodak, eventually retiring and embracing retirement with joy and gratitude.
Bill will be remembered by his children as a loving, kind, and wise father-a steadfast source of comfort, encouragement, and guidance. He was gregarious, thoughtful, and exemplified the very best of what a father should be.
He loved to travel, especially to Seaside, Florida, and Memphis, Tennessee. His friends will fondly remember conversations on his porch-often accompanied by a cigar and a well-earned libation-where he delighted in discussing life, faith, and the questions that shape us as human beings.
Bill's legacy of love, curiosity, and kindness will live on in all who knew him.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR, and will be conducted on Friday, November 28, 2025 at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 3 PM. The funeral service, officiated by Father Jon Miskin, will begin at 3 PM. Interment will occur at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, KY, at a date and time to be determined.

The family would like to recognize the following people as honorary pallbearers serving in memory of William Mansfield Gramig Jr. Rayburn Green, Danny Cole, Jim Burnett, and the late Steve Kramer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batesville, AR

I'm overcome with grief today upon hearing of Bill Gramig's passing just 3 days ago. My deepest condolences to Jennifer, Greta & and Billy on the loss of their dear Father, and to the rest of Bill's family as well. Bill was the very best boss I ever worked for in over 30 years in the chemical industry, and I will cherish forever the great times we had together, whether on his way to Seaside, Florida, in Fairhope, Alabama, or during a post-retirement trip back to Batesville. I praise God for the influence Bill had on my life, and for his positive impact on all who worked with and for Bill at Arkansas Eastman.
