William Green Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Martin's Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Granbury on Jan. 29, 2026.
William started his life in McMinnville, TN on Sept 13, 1946. His Grandmother, Rosa Green and Mother, Pearl Green raised him on a small piece of property. He didn't have electricity or running water and didn't see a TV until he was a teen. His mother and him moved to Grapevine, TX. where he attended high school. He taught himself how to play the baritone sax and was in the band. He quit school and joined the U.S. Army at age 17. While he was in Okinawa he wrote a letter to Carol, his best friend and girlfriend, to ask her ring size. They were married on November 14, 1964. They had 3 daughters. William was a PROUD VIETNAM VETERAN! As was ALL OF HIS FAMILY! He served in the carpool and learned mechanics. When he exited the Army, he went to college and got his A.A.S in Criminal Justice. He worked as a mechanic all his life. He became a Master Technician. He is survived by wife/best friend of 61 years, Carol; daughters Kim Covey-Pickett and Lynette Green. Grandsons Rick Dempsey, Lonnie Covey, Jeff Covey, William Green Granddaughter CJ Dempsey and numerous Great Grandchildren. Family that preceded him was his grandmother, mother, and oldest daughter Tammy Green Dempsey. HE WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED AND MISSED!

Visitation will be at Martin's funeral home on February 4, 2026, between hours of 5 pm and 7 pm. Entombment and service will be at Holly Hills Mausoleum on February 5, 2026, at 10 am.
